Useful tools for the modern Reef Aquarium

Modern aquariums are very high tech nowadays. From top of the range filters, to the very best LED aquarium lights, and the latest aquaplaning techniques, they are works of art and need lots of upkeep.

Aquariums now require some understanding of water quality, nitrogen cycles, and much more. That’s a lot more than your regular cold water goldfish! It takes a lot of time and effort to sustain a healthy reef aquarium!

Here’s some of the best bits of kit to keep a modern saltwater aquarium:

LED Aquarium lights

The best led aquarium lights are essential for plant growth and healthy fish. They are a much better upgrade than the usual lights that you see in most aquariums. They are a huge trend now and rightly so!

Canister Filters

Just a handful of individuals know about the canister filters. These ‘premium’ filters that are not known to most but many don’t understand that this is one of the best filters that you can have. In view of the way it filters the water, the water will be in idealize condition for all your fish.

These filters use up to 5 stages of filtration, and a much higher water output. That means a cleaner tank for longer. They can filter out dirt, but color too.

Gravel Cleaners

Before you can know how to purchase the best rock cleaner, you have to think about what the cleaner really is. This is essentially a plastic head. On the plastic head, there is a plastic tube that you are putting in a basin beneath the tank. It makes cleaning your tank super easy.

A top gravel cleaner makes light work of fish waste, which means less chemicals in the water and healthier fish. Also, it means the filter has an easier job. And the tank looks cleaner visually too.

Live aquarium rock

There are three normal sorts of saltwater aquarium setups. The Fish Only, the Fish Only with Live Rock (FOWLR) and a reef tank. I truly simply consider two of those as practical setups. The fish just set up is truly sort of troublesome as far as natural control of the filter and (as I would like to think) makes it harder to keep a saltwater tank without live rock. Live rock is marvellous and will turn into the essential organic filter in your tank.

Just like the filter, live rock hosts good bacteria to keep the tank super clean.
